Steve Downhill

Steve Downhill (born Dennis Downhill on February 14th 1968 in Thredbo, Australia) is a senior Winter Games sports reporter/semi pro curler who uses a heavy Australian accent/style with great success.

Without the aid of radio or TV coverage (due to the explicit, crude and sexist nature of his commentary), Dennis has built up a widespread cult following.

Dennis was born at the bottom of Crackenback in Thredbo to his now estranged parents Jude and Penny Downhill.

In his late teens Dennis was an international hand model and pro curler. His career was tragically curtailed after a freak curling accident where his right hand was completely severed from his arm by a rogue curl. Prior to this career shattering accident, Dennis was on course to represent Australia at the 1988 XV Winter Games in Calgary, Canada as a sweeper.

Always a keen winter sportsman, Dennis created an alter ego during his recovery period, Steve Downhill, and started commentating the Winter Games. 25 years later Steve Downhill has been taken under the wing of the Winter Games community and is now the pin ultimate Winter Games sports commentator in Australia... and a bloody legend.

Dennis still lives in Thredbo with his wife Barb and their three sons, Dennis the 2nd, Warnie (named after Australian cricketing hero Shane Warne), and Curly.
